The stories are set in the American wilderness many years ago. Laura and her sisters have a lot of different adventures and listen to a lot of stories.

Grasshopper attacks, diseases, mean classmates, harsh winters and many other things happen to the family, but gradually they settle down, along with many other wild animals.
Five of these books have gotten awards, and you can learn a lot about the early pioneer life in the 1800s.
Laura Ingalls Wilder was one of the first American woman writers.
These books are for ages 8 and up.
