Hey, readers!
How would you feel if you could wish for things, but the wish only came half-full? Confused!
That's why I'm going to review Half Magic, written by Edward Eager.
It all starts when Jane, the oldest of four children finds a nickel on the pavement. So she keeps it, unaware that her adventures are just starting! When Jane wishes that the summer could be more exciting for her and her siblings, it certainly does get interesting!
For this is a magical coin that can grant half a wish. Jane and her siblings Mark, Katherine and Martha each decide that they will take turns wishing on the coin.
But, sometimes you have to be very very careful what you wish for...
And what happens when you turn into a half-ghost, or if your cat can half-speak, or you are half-not in the family? Things can get confusing!
Join Jane, Mark, Katherine, Martha, Mother and Mr. Smith as they find out just how magical the coin on the sidewalk is.
Edward Eager (1911-1964) was an American playwright and lyricist. He started writing books in 1951 after he was looking for a book to read to his son, Fritz. He thought that E. Nesbit was the best children's writer of all time. He has also written The Well-Wishers, Seven-Day Magic, The Time Garden, Magic Or Not?, Knight's Castle, and Magic By The Lake. Magic By The Lake is the sequel of Half Magic.
I recommend this book for ages 8 and above.
I loved this book to bits and I totally look forward to reading more of Edward Eager's books!
